Luckily online dating almost forces us to act slowly, though there are single people who log on and make culling partners their life’s ambition. We need to step a little more gingerly. This is all well and good for any one of us stuck in our own little niche, dealing with family and friends, hanging-out locally, but what happens when the guy or girl travels out of their environ, meets someone unlike them in every which way, when they encounter another race of person they might want to get to know or, God forbid, date?

2.) Keep the date. There is nothing worse than standing somebody-up and in this day and age, with all the communication we have at our ready, we can make even the smallest effort to tell someone other plans came up or we are running too late to make it this time.

There is a lot of freedom in being able to be true to ourselves and not having to live according to someone else’s expectations. We’re all very lucky to live in the times we are living in.

Finding the right person isn’t just a matter of luck, although sometimes it feels like it must be nothing more than pure luck. Part of finding the right person though is knowing what it is we’re looking for and what traits we’d like the person to possess, what interests we’d like them to have in common with ours and what things are negotiable. It may sound silly, but it helps to write it all down. Writing a list of traits, characteristics and interests our ideal mate would have is the best way to start. Don’t hold back and don’t leave anything out. This is the dream list, so put it all on there no matter how unrealistic or impossible it may seem. Include sexual interests, hobbies, and domestic capabilities. Write down everything that comes to mind.

Once that’s done, it’s time to assess each desired requirement and prioritize how important it really is.
